Our Mission

We spend too much time on our phones. The average person spends 4 hours per day on their phone, which adds up to the time spent on a part time job per week.

While technology is great, it has been linked to a heavy increase in depression and teen suicide. Youth Suicide rates have gone up 33% since 1999.

Luckily, some companies are applying technology to address this. MindStrong feeds biomarkers collected on patients smartphones directly to their primary care physician.

This acts like an “X-ray” for mental health, helping the doctor better understand the mood of their patient so they can care for them better.

But that’s only half the battle. The doctor wants to take action to help. The physical help they can offer is to prescribe drugs which may or may not treat the depression, but they can only advise on other things that might help like:

Getting more sleep, exercising, eating well, and engaging with friends socially.

That’s where Lyv comes in.

The doctor would place the beacon from their office, or could visit the part and place the beacon. Then she shares this beacon with her patient.

Now the patient can see the Beacon through the camera on their phone and “check in” to the activity.

The Beacon, shown in the real world, is more powerful than simply a maps coordinate shown in the same virtual world of their phone that helped create this problem.

Instead, the Beacon helps draw them into the real world and encourages them to visit the park.

The data of when the park was visited, and the action that was performed, is sent back to the physician so they can know if these “prescribed beacons” are being performed and see the results.

The initial application is for medical professionals and clinical patients, but the app can be used by users and businesses advertise and find local activities, food and events to help them improve their mental health. Because we could all spend more time Lyving.
